Gordon Cooper - RONIN - Founder & Chief Operative
I was born and raised in the rape and murder capital of the world. I became a special ops soldier, and served my country as a protector and guide.
I studied ancient warrior cultures, was awarded black-belt status in a number of martial disciplines, and represented my country. I trained with old Vietnam war vets, Navy-Seal combat instructors, Hollywood bodyguards and sought-after bouncers.
I have made a career training kids, everyday men and woman, business persons & their families, anti-piracy units, security, law enforcement, military, and VIP protection operatives.
I have over time acquired a unique skillset, which I use professionally to empower others to live safely & confidently in an unsafe world

Little Natalie - Bully-Basics
Natalie’s dad Ben called me in response to an article in our local newspaper on bullying. As a result she attended our bully-basics program. She was small and unassuming – one of the reasons other kids were picking on her – but she quickly changed, impressing not only her parents but the physically stronger boys on the seminar.
Little Natalie showed that it’s not the size or sex of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog that matters most! She showed me the power of the inner bear, and transformed before our eyes from a timid victim to a calm and confident young lady.
This was Friday evening. Monday the bullying stopped – permanently! If I were a kid at school Natalie, I’d want you for my friend!
Knife Weilding Assailants
Andrea loved our training. She showed real courage and spirit, and inspired others on the course. About a month after the class she was attacked by two knife-wielding men on an isolated farm road.
The attack was sudden and unexpected, all she could do was react instinctively! “In that moment that decides life and death, everything I learned in the four hour class came to my rescue when nothing else could! The stress of the attack seemed to trigger my training, the exact response I needed to save my life.”
She came away with only minor cuts and bruises. One assailant was knocked to the ground, and later fled the scene. The other was left severely wounded with his own knife! Andrea tells me she was covered in blood, and it wasn’t hers...
Gruesome as this story may be, it is also remarkable. A lone woman, surprised in a deserted area, sets two knife- wielding men fleeing for their lives! Way to go girl!!
Military VIP Protection Unit
The Africa Aerospace and Defence (AAD) Exhibition is the largest exhibition of air, sea and land capabilities on the African continent. In support of this event, VIP Protection must be provided to all visiting guests from abroad as guests of the Minister of Defence. As the National Defence Force VIP Close Protection Coordinator, I was tasked with scheduling a weeks training to confirm the VIP Close Protectors skills and abilities. The RONIN Protection Group was contacted to do a day’s Close Quarter Combat training with the members. Focus was given to self defence techniques, the use of hand guns, knifes and battens during attacks and defence, some newly proofed close quarter combat and protection techniques were also presented and shared with the members.
This was done so professionally and effectively that Gordon was asked to present this training to the members that attended the VIP Close Protection Course presented twice a year at the Air Force Gymnasium, the custodian of the VIP training in the Defence Force.
Gordon was also approached to present a similar course to the VIP Close Protection members used during the AAD Exhibition
